ASK

HOW DO YOU ASK FOR YOUR NEEDS?

Most creators view sales as the most terrifying thing on their journey. If you never ask, then you’ll never hear “No.” However, you will certainly never hear “Yes” if you don’t ask.

Many creators also feel that “sales” is selfish, but the truth is you owe it to the world to let them know about what you do. Somewhere, right now, there are people who are in pain or have an unfulfilled desire simply because they don’t know that you and your creation exists. Somewhere someone is waiting to go dancing, and waiting to hear your music, and buy your outfit. Someone is bemoaning the empty space in their apartment, just waiting to purchase your artwork or furnishings. Someone needs a good laugh, just waiting for your podcast, book, or film. You have what they want so it’s not selfish to ask them.

It seems daunting at first but soon you’ll enjoy asking for your needs. After you ask enough times, you won’t feel awkward because you’ll know exactly why what you create matters, and you’ll know who it matters to, and therefore there’s no ego in it. It’s simply just you offering your gift to the world. Sales is the act of asking for what you need in order to do something awesome for someone else. It’s not about you, it’s about them being helped. You’re either talking directly to your audience - who you love and want to help - or through your channels, who also share a love for your audience.

In this lesson you’ll learn to build trust between you and your audience through a “sales funnel.” You’ll learn to determine who your leads are, and how they prove their interest and become a prospective buyer. You’ll learn that it’s not so scary to ask, by simply presenting the “opportunity” to buy in and support what you do. Finally, you’ll gain new customers (or get your first customer!) and build long lasting relationships.
