Artists CAN learn business.

It’s a myth that artists can’t learn business. The truth is artists can learn anything, but most business books are heartless and have no clue how the artist’s mind works. Get Lost and Get Found takes the twelve parts of a business plan and translates it into language that artists can understand, and maps their business plan as a personal journey to an authentic way of life.

Get Lost and Get Found is a compendium of the 12 must-haves for every creative business. In 458 full color pages, 50+ exercises, and 100+ stories, the twelve parts of a creative business model are outlined as a personal journey. The journey begins with Get Lost, an exploration of the first six Hustlers Handbooks to create your “Business Pitch”, and Get Found lays out the final six Handbooks to map your “Business Model” and connect with the world.

an author’s road trip to 50 STATEs

In 2014, author Lucas Spivey wrote a four page blog post called “Finally A Basic Art Business Plan” that went viral to over 50,000 downloads. He was inspired to build Mobile Incubators - recording studios inside vintage camper trailers - and road trip across all 50 states to interview thousands of work-a-day artists, performers, writers, designers, makers, and other entrepreneurs. Their hard fought wisdom inspired the 450 page compendium of Hustlers Handbooks, now published as Get Lost and Get Found.

Lucas received his BFA in Interdisciplinary Art, and his MBA in Finance. He’s the founder of the world’s first educational media company for cultural entrepreneurship known as “Culture Hustlers”. Since 2010, he has pioneered a 100% experiential mentorship model for creators; producing podcasts, documentaries, and photo essays on cultural entrepreneurship; running residencies, curating exhibitions and producing events for Harvard University, Ringling College of Art & Design, Boston Center for the Arts, University of Wisconsin, MIT, Arts & Business Council, ArtPrize, Artists Thrive, Artist Inc, and more.
